The Profile Watch – Montblanc

August 04th, 2010

2002 saw the development of a watch that luxury maker Montblanc could call uniquely their own – the Profile watch. Also, it was quite a coup for this maker to get the trademark to such a common but powerful word. Further, the simplicity of the style and its ingenuity were what set this watch apart. Only half of the hour marker numerals appear on the clock dial – the rest appeared on separate parallel vertical bars that made up the bezel. It was an almost illusory combination. Yet, the unique watch is still available today at about $ 2K – however replica Montblanc watches may be bought for lower dollars.

Unfortunately, even the best replica makers have yet to reproduce the detail with the Roman numeral hour markers on the bezel sides. Fortunately, most of them have reproduced the Profile watch – and some have done it with faux gemstones. Perhaps the fanciest of these is the Bock “Montblanc Profile Lady Elegance with Black Dial Lady Size” watch. Like the ad says, it is a black face dial (rectangular) captured in a matte silver steel watch case. Obviously, the watch strap just had to be a black leather band. The Montblanc six-pointed smooth star trademark sits atop the stem winder button.

A further great detail are the eighteen total faux gemstones set in the parallel vertical sides of the bezel. Three rows of three gems each are aligned on either side. Also in great style is the white “dot and arc” circle displayed in the watch center. Speaking of white, another model in this collection does come with the white dial face. Enhancing the face are large, bold “gem” encrusted Roman numeral hour markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. The “Montblanc” name appears accurately on the face of both of these sleek Montblanc replica watches.
